JK: We’ll spare none on graft

The Chairman of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), President Jakaya Kikwete said that any person - including a member of the party – suspected of corruption will be taken to task. Opening the party’s women wing (UWT) General Election Assembly, President Kikwete said that the ongoing drive to investigate those involved in various corruption scams would continue.

However, he admitted that the exercise was a difficult and fraught with complaints and blames, pledging that the investigations would be thorough in order to gather water-tight evidence. He urged the public to remain calm as relevant authorities build the cases.

President Kikwete reiterated that the government had its own mechanisms for carrying out such investigations, and that it cannot hurriedly or haphazardly arrest people without collecting sufficient evidence against them. He said any person listed in such scams would be investigated fairly, assuring that there were laws protecting such suspects, insisting that all lists of suspects were being worked on.

He said those found guilty would be dealt with – but added they were free to appeal anywhere if aggrieved. President Kikwete called on delegates of the assembly to elect competent, diligent and committed leaders, or they would regret their own choices for the next five years.

He insisted that they should not elect people on grounds of friendship or sponsorship, saying the two were not leadership criteria for UWT. Welcoming the president, the outgoing UWT chairperson, Ms Anna Abdalla said the election was characterized by dirty campaigns - especially after the conclusion of the polls at district and regional levels.

She asked the president to intervene in order to ensure that elections within the party were not dominated by such smear campaigns, which she said were creating divisions within the party. Ms Abdallah said there had been excessive use of money during the campaign and that such trend was discouraging other party members from contesting.

The out-going chairperson added that the campaigns were also characterized by threats, charging that some of the UWT regional and district chairpersons were at loggerheads with their secretaries due to dirty campaigns. The results of the election are expected to be announced today. The assembly was also attended by representatives of various political parties - CHADEMA), CUF and TLP.

We will have to admit at one point that despite many illegalities, absolute immorality and bad politics in that view, we are faced with the fact that the times has passed to some polician and that we have to count on new faces.

Jk u'r doing good and i am sure you will suport me on this. You are vision is good but some people your working with are out of ideas and you need new faces with new and creative mind

The poll that i conducted earlier this month across the whole of Tanzania living abroad showed that 94% of tanzanias abroad believed that Kikwete was doing a good job,5% an average job and only 1% thought he was doing a bad job. This give the idea that our president is the men we need and is doing a wonderfull job.

Also the majority of the tanzanians public believe that kikwete is doing a good job

Another recent pole by reporters abroad has revealed that tanzanians believe that their President, Kikwete, is doing a good job as he passes the half way point of his elected 5 year term in office.

This is an increase on the same poll that was conducted last year where results showed that 79% thought he was doing a good job, 16% an average job and 5% a bad job.

The poll’s results also showed that 83% of tanzanians abroad believed Kikwete was clear on the direction on where he wanted to take the country, 81% believed that he knew the ‘real’ situation of tanzania whilst they generally thought of JK as a responsible man who was an optimist.

I still hope he'll do a lot of good anyway. I still hope he'll care about the rural kids who are just as smart as he is but lack the opportunity to get a scholarship to join the primary, secondary school, and universities.

Thanks ccm marekani for the hard work, and special thanks to my president Kikwete

Does it matter?
What matters is Dr. Kikwete going to support failures? I just saw one tanzania albino from the news where he was asking the person how much time he has to live before is killed by his country man

Once again, tanzanians = failures. Forget transcending garbage. It would be nice if kikwete will just got real with all the failures and kick out the fisadi's because are the one causing all the problemS in our country. They believe in stupid things. I hear that now they are convising some sutupid tanzanians not to support our president for the good work his doing.

I don't doubt that Kikwete is the freshest national politician the Tanzania has seen in a quite a while. I admire him a lot.I am proud of him being my president, and what benefits him and the country least are the kinds of person who is ready for tanzanians and fights for them that depict him as a true figure
