Dr Shein calls for unity among CCM members

CCM’s presidential candidate for Zanzibar, Dr Ali Mohamed Shein, has called on party members in the islands to unite in efforts to end rifts ahead of October 31 general elections.
Dr Shein said that unity within the party was crucial despite the fact that CCM victory in the elections was ‘certain.’ Addressing party supporters and members, Dr Shein asked them to support him and abandon conflicting groups for the interest of the party. “It is obvious that everyone has own preference for councillorship, House of Representatives, Union Member of the Parliament and Zanzibar presidency. “Fortunately, the process to choose our candidates is over, let us now unite with the desire to win the next elections,” Dr Shein told the gathering at Bwawani Hotel in the Stone Town. Dr Shein who is expected to pick nomination forms at the Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC) today, said he was a person of few words but a committed person who shows his competency by practice. He warned he would not hesitate to fire any leader in his government who puts personal interest first. “I am not a person who speaks a lot. I am a man of actions. I am ready to serve Zanzibaris to their expectations as per the party manifesto which is ready and will be made public during campaign time,” said Dr Shein amid cheers from the gathering. “I am disturbed with news that some houses have been damaged by home made bombs, people are beaten or live in fear. Let us put aside our differences which emerged during the nomination period and work as a team for CCM’s victory,” he said. Several ministers from both union and Zanzibar governments attended the meeting.
